The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State (FUNAAB) was established on January 1, 1988 by the Federal Government when four Universities of Technology, earlier merged in 1984, were demerged. This led to the creation of the first two Universities of Agriculture in Abeokuta and Makurdi.

UNDERGRADUATE COURSES


COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURAL MANAGEMENT AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT (COLAMRUD)

Currently, the College comprises four academic Departments as follows:

  1. Department of Agricultural Economics and Farm Management;
  2. Department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development;
  3. Department of Agricultural Administration (new)
  4. Department of Communication and General Studies
COLLEGE OF ANIMAL SCIENCE AND LIVESTOCK PRODUCTION (COLANIM)

Currently the College comprises five academic departments as follows:

1. Department of Animal Breeding and Genetics
2. Department of Animal Nutrition
3. Department of Animal Physiology
4. Department of Animal Production and Health
5. Department of Pasture and Range Management

COLLEGE OF BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES (COLBIOS)

Presently, the Departments in the College which offer four-year Bachelor of Science Degree Programme are:

  • Department of Biochemistry
  • Department of Microbiology
  • Department of Pure and Applied Zoology
  • Department of Pure and Applied Botany

COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING (COLENG)

Presently, the Departments in the College which offer 5 year B.Eng degree programmes are:

i) Department of Agricultural Engineering

ii) Department of Civil Engineering

iii) Department of Electrical/Electronics Engineering

iv) Department of Mechanical Engineering

COLLEGE OF ENVIRONMENTAL RESOURCES MANAGEMENT (COLERM)

Presently, the Departments in the College which offer five years Bachelor degree programmes are:

(i)    Department of  Aquaculture and Fisheries Management
(ii) Department of Environmental Management and Toxicology
(iii)    Department  of Forestry and Wildlife Management
(iv)   Department of Water Resources Management and Agrometeorology

COLLEGE OF FOOD SCIENCES AND HUMAN ECOLOGY (COLFHEC)

There are four department in the college, namely: –

  • Department of Food Science and Technology
  • Department of Home Science and Management
  • Department of Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Department of Hospitality and Tourism

COLLEGE OF MANAGEMENT SCIENCES (COLMAS)

Presently, the Departments in the College which offer B.Sc degree programmes are:

•    Department of Accounting
•    Department of Banking and Finance
•    Department of Business Enterprise Management
•    Department of Economics

COLLEGE OF PHYSICAL SCIENCES (COLPHYS)

The Departments are:

  • Department of Chemistry
  • Department of Computer Science
  • Department of Mathematics
  • Department of Physics
  • Department of Statistics

COLLEGE OF PLANT SCIENCE AND CROP PRODUCTION (COLPLANT)

Currently, the College comprises (5) five Academic departments as follows:

1. Department of Crop Protection,
2. Department of Horticulture,
3. Department of Plant Breeding and Seed Technology
4. Department of Plant Physiology and Crop Production, and
5. Department of Soil Science and Land Management.

COLLEGE OF VETERINARY MEDICINE (COLVET)

The College has the following six Departments:

• Department of Veterinary Anatomy
• Department of Veterinary Physiology & Pharmacology
• Department of Veterinary Pathology
• Department of Veterinary Microbiology & Parasitology
• Department of Veterinary Medicine & Surgery
• Department of Veterinary Public Health & Reproduction.

POSTGRADUATE SCHOOL

The Postgraduate School at FUNAAB was established and assigned, by regulation, the responsibility for “co-ordination and quality control of postgraduate studies at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB)”. The regulation provides that “Postgraduate Studies shall include all academic and professional programmes which require student achievement beyond the undergraduate level in any field, generally leading to the award of a Postgraduate Diploma, Master or Doctorate Degree”.
